Playa del Carmen Nightlife
Playa del Carmen is now the most famous point in the “Riviera Maya”. Every day, the city offers many types of events like Jazz festivals, gastronomic feasts, Mardi Grass, art exhibitions, contests, fire dancers, fashion parades, theme parties, ladies night and much more.
Playa del Carmen is growing speedily because of the great number of tourists who arrive throughout the year. There are constantly new places like bars, clubs and hotels. This place is definitely a great place to party; where you can find a good mixture of foreigners and Mexicans.
The most of places to fun at night are along the “Quinta Avenida” (5th Avenue), which is the most famous street of the city. Here you can find a big variety of bars, discotheques, restaurants and hotels. Nevertheless, there are also some places at north around “Calle 14” (14 street), but they are not many.
Several places have life music shows and some clubs have also Mexican Mariachi bands. The most of places play varied music (mainly salsa, rock, reggae and reggaeton). Here, beer is the most popular drink and there are many brands amongst locals and imported. Some brands are: Corona, Leon, Victoria, Tecate, XX, Sol amongst others.

Blue Parrot
This place is an institution in the beach; since it is the most popular club in Playa del Carmen. It was voted as on of the 10 best bars in the world by Newsweek. This club is a mixture amongst nightclub, bar and restaurant. The action in this place starts around 23:00; when begin the shows of fire dancers. This place has sand floors, swing seats at the bar, a stage for dancing, and a sitting area with pillows, candles, and carpets. Here, the prizes are very reasonable and the environment is very cool. It is located at 12th Street and 1st Avenue (on the beach). Here sandals and shorts are the norm.
Alux
It is a peculiar place; since it is locate inside a cave (a real cave of stone). There, you can find good life music, some times belly dancing and good food. Besides, the local conservancy group approved all the work, and great care was taken not to contaminate the water. This place opens from Tuesday to Sunday from 19:00 to 2:00 and is located at “Juárez Avenue", block 12, 13A.
Tequila Barrel
It is a great place to take a drink with some friends on the beach. This place is the best site to start the night in Playa del Carmen. There is a great variety of beers, mixed drinks, and a whole wall of different tequilas to choose from. It is located at “Quinta Avenida” (5th Avenue) between 10th and 12th Streets.
Señor Frogs
It is situated next to ferry dock and is the first place that you will see, when you arrive to Playa del Carmen. Señor Frogs is a great club to dance and meet friends. Besides, it has a good restaurant, which opens until 22:00.
Apasionado
This spot is situated in the corner of 5th Avenue and 14 Street. This restaurant serves food and cocktails outdoors. It is the perfect place to spend a good evening.

If you want to watch a movie; Cine Hollywood is situated in the corner amongst 10th Avenue and 8th Street. There are movies with Spanish subtitles and dubbed.
