Museum of Marine Biology
The museum presents a collection over 1900 species representative of the amazing diversity of marine life in the country. The museum shows all kinds of invertebrates of Costa Rica’s Sea since protozoon till equinodermus besides a great number of vertebrates among fish, birds and reptiles.
The institution hosts the impressive mollusk collection of Manuel Valerio, which has species from all the world.. The museum opens from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12m and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It is located in the School of Marine Biology of National University. Entry is free.

Popular Culture Museum
The scope of the museum is rescue, research and conservation of cultural practice of The Central Valley of Costa Rica. This museums is located in the Bahareque house, that is a building representative of household of the zone.
This building was part of a coffee plantation at the end of XIX century. The museum save a collection of domestic items, handcraft furniture and work tools. The building is surrounded by medicinal and ornamental plants as well as fruit trees. The museum has been opened since 1994 and belongs to national university.
Another activity in the museum is teaching of ancient practice of Costa Rica like former games, construction of traditional mask, baharaque construction system, etc.
The museum opens from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:00 and weekends from 10:00 to 17:00.
Jewels of the Rainforest Museum
The museum was created by the biologist-entomologist-nature and videographer Richard H Whitten. It is located in Tirol and has got a beautiful collection that represents the great natural wealth of Costa Rica.
