Heredia Eating

The characteristic flavors of Costa Rica’s Central Valley are in Heredia’s food with some variants like “Quelites soup” or “Lomo coiled”. They are symbols of Heredia’s cook.
The first is a combination of vegetables, watercress, chayotes, turnip leaf, rosemary and mauves, while the second is a delicious spicy pork meat, stuffed with potato, boiled egg, tomatoes and chili.
Others typical meals are the famous “Gallo Pinto” (rice, beans, meat and maize’s tortilla), “El Casado” (rice with beans, meat and fried banana), “Olla de Carne” (soup with vegetables, green banana and beef), "Corbina al ajo"(garlic corbina with rice or potatoes and salad).
In Heredia are famous medlar‘s marmalade, preserves grapefruit and “Ponche casero” (drink with egg, milk, "guaro" juice, vanilla and rum).
