Weather in Buenos Aires


The most favorable time to visit Buenos Aires is the summer. It should remember that in southern hemisphere, the summer begins at December. Nevertheless autumn and mainly spring are also good seasons for visit Buenos Aires. 
Buenos Aires city has a benign and warm climate during all the year. It doesn’t exist extremely hot or cold days, the people can walk around the city during whole year.
But between January and March any times there are peaks of temperature up to 40ºC (110ºF). Whereas in winter the month more cold is July .In this month the temperature fluctuates between 3ºC and 8ºC. It is recommendable to wear jackets, overcoat of woolen and other winter’s clothes. The air in the summer is hot and humid being around 28 ºC the average temperature which decreases at night but the overcoats aren’t necessary.
It is famous the “St. John’s little summer”, that is a temperature’s increase which happens on June 24th (the winter solstice in southern hemisphere) the same day that the Catholic Church celebrates the John the Baptist holiday .This phenomenon lasts between three daysand one week ; during this time the average temperature will reach 24º C. It must remember that is winter in Buenos Aires. Another interesting phenomenon is the “Santa Rosa storm”; those are a set of rainfalls that starts on August 30th, the St. Rose’s holiday when in Argentina is the end of cold season.
Annually the rate of rain in Buenos Aires is 1146 mm3. The rainfalls occur mainly in autumn and spring. An umbrella is a very good idea in this time.
The averages temperatures are 17ºC (64ºF) at spring, 23ºC (76ºF) at summer, 18ºC (66ºF) at autumn and 5ºC (40ºF) at winter.
