Buenos Aires is becoming a popular gay travel destination. Is probably one of the most open-minded cities in Latin America. There is no gay village in Buenos Aires, but the gay scene can be found scattered around the centre and the districts of Recoleta, Palermo and San Telmo, with a vibrant gay nightlife after so many years of repression. However many gay places are within a relatively short walk or taxi ride of each other.

Buenos Aires is one of the most gay-friendly cities of South America and gays are generally well accepted. Argentina gay community is very lively and active, especially in Buenos Aires and other big cities along the country. Gay life is improving with the public discussion about homosexuality in the last 10 years. The gay liberation movement is championed by the Comunidad Homosexual Argentina.

There is a law in Capital Federal that permits a same-sex couple to enter into a civil partnership. Gays are starting to live on their own instead of conforming to the national norm of singles living at home until married. On the other hand, the church and politician still believe homosexuality is abnormal. Under this law gay and straight couples are entitled to have the same benefits and right of a normal couple.

Gay Argentina main Pride Parade is held in Buenos Aires on each November of each year, to mark the formation of the first-every gay group in Buenos Aires in 1969.
