Saint Petersburg is the second metropolis in Russia; therefore it has an exciting and vibrant nightlife with a diverse and colorful music scene, a great number of bars, nice clubs, good casinos and richest cultural events. Most of entertainment points in the city are located at Ligovsky Prospkekt and Vasilievsky Island in the Petrograd zone.

 

During the summer the nightlife reach its peak; since there is not after dark, therefore the beautiful XVIII century palaces of the city open their doors until after midnight for music concerts. The main all-night, outdoor party scene is along the strecht Angliiskaya Naberezhnya (English Embankment) near the Hermitage museum, with street musicians, food stands and many people in the streets. Besides Saint Petersburg offers also at night a great number of operas, concerts of Classic Music and of course Ballet.

The Idiot


It is a cool restaurant which is inspired by Dostoyevsky. There, you can find Russian and vegetarian cuisine and a suitably Bohemian vibe. You get free vodka when you come in. This place is very popular amongst  artists and ex-pat community. It is located at 82 Moika Embankment/Naberezhnaya Moiki.

 

Cynic Bar


It is a classical Russian dive bar with several tables and benches where you can drink a beer, eat something or dance on the tables. Some times the bar organizes fancy dress events. It is one of the most popular entertainment places in Saint Petersburg, mainly amongst local students; therefore, it is a nice place to meet new friends. It is located just  at per. Antonenko 4 near Saint Isaac Square.


The Tunnel


It is a very cool dancing club, which was the first techno club in the country (1993). The club has a tumultuous history; since it has been closed two times (in 1997 and 2002) and there are several stories about selling drugs around it. The parties here last all night and are completely wild. The Tunnel is located at 2b ul. Zverinskaya.

 

Metro


It is a great place to dance, hear international music and meet pretty girls and guys between 18 and 25 years old. This place has three excellent dance floors (each one with a different music style) and several bars and karaoke. The place is decorated in a post industrial style very creative. Metro is located at 174 Ligovsky Prospekt and admission cost around $10. It open from 22:00 to 6:00.

 

Fish Fabrique


This club which is called Fishka by locals is situated at 10 ushkinskaya Ulitsa, there you can hear some of the best alternative bands in Russia. The place is small and friendly. It opens every day from 15:00 to 6:00. Most of concerts take place from Thursday to Saturday. Admission cost between $3 and $8 depending on whether or not there is a musical show and the quality of this.
