Porto lies on the north bank of the Rio Douro, and located in the northern region of Portugal. Porto is the second largest city, and is also one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal. The city is in itself full of interest, but the district it heads, through largely industrialized.

 About Porto 





The most famous product of the country is the Port Wine, which was named after the city because it was originally shipped from the area or more precisely, from Vila Nova de Gaia, where still the wine is blended and aged and there you can taste the different varieties. The river cruise along the Douro is other interesting tour, where you can see the Ribeira of Porto and enjoy of the valley through the river with its prosperous towns, as commerce and industry thrive there.

The city is a trading center at the mouth of the Rio Douro, with is charm parts as the Ribeira that is full a narrow twisting streets with houses once painted or tiled in colorful facades. The district of the cathedral is full of busy streets and monuments to past achievements; other popular district is the Cordoaria quarter is for students with steep streets and interesting shops. Baixa quarter with broad avenues lined with banks and outdoor cafés, and Boavista area is the arterial route in and out of the city past blocks of apartments and hotels.

Porto has beautiful historic centre recognized by the UNESCO, and the city counts with architectural highlights such as Oporto Cathedral, the small Romanesque Church of Cedofeita, the Gothic Igreja de Sao Francisco, and other beautiful buildings. In the culture and museums, Porto also has other highlights such as the Museu de Arte Contemporanea, or Fundacao de Serralves, designed by Alvaro Siza Vieira, a native of the town, these places has beautiful collections of artworks, sculptures and scarecrows.
