Lisbon is fasts gaining a reputation as one of Europe’s trendiest cities and is and established favorite to the most famous international DJs. At night the oldest quarters of the city come alive, thanks to the peculiar sound of the “fado singing” and guitar playing. If you have only one night in Lisbon, you must spend it, in a fado club. This local melancholic rhythm is one of the greatest attractions of the Lisbon’s nightlife. In the city there are many shows of fado with the best "fadistas" (fado singers) of the World. Most nice fado clubs are located in the ancient Alfama district, near “Saint George” castle and in the “Bairro Alto” neighborhood, where there are around 150 bars and clubs. There are clubs for every type of musical preferences; you can find some with salsa music and dancing, others with DJs spinning and many other rhythms.

There are also many nice clubs in the “Docas” (Docks) district, which is situated at eats of “Ponte 25 de Abril” (April 25 Bridge); most restaurants and bars in this zone are located literally on the docks of the Tejo River; there are tables outside to dine and drink, besides, from here, it can enjoy a amazing view of the river at night. Nevertheless, most clubs and bars in “Docas” are frequented mainly by rich tourists; therefore, prices are more expensive here than in “Bairro Alto”; besides, in “Docas” there is a dress code if you want to enter into a club or bar.

 

Another popular area is the “Parque das Naçoes”; it is really great if you want to discover the Lisbon’s nightlife. There are many bars, nightclubs and excellent cyber-cafes; in addition to, most restaurants in this zone open until dawn. Another advantage in “Parque das Naçoes” is the price of the admission, drinks and food, since in this zone prices  are very reasonable compared to other parts of the city like “Docas”.

 

The cafés are a typical meeting point in Portugal; they are institutions in the Portuguese society, a democratic parlor, where people can enjoy a good drink, abandon their worries, smoke, read a book or chat about the football matches. In Lisbon there are many cafés in Chiado, one of them is the famous “A Brasileira”, a nice café located  at 120 “Rua Garret”

 

Parties in Lisbon begin late compared to American standards. Many bars don’t even open until 10 or 11 pm and most Portuguese would set foot into a club before 1 am. Most clubs open until dawn.  

 

But, if you prefer a good concert of classical music; Lisbon offers also several places , where it can enjoy this marvel music. In places like the “Calouste Gubelkain Foundation” or “Culturgest”, it can hear greatest performances of some of the best classical musicians of the World. Lisbon has also several beautiful theaters like “Dona Maria II National Theater”(classical plays) or “Sao Carlos Theater” (opera).

 

Lisbon hosts often some of the most famous artist and bands of the planet. Greatest concerts take place usually in the “Atlantic Pavillion” or “Coliseu dos Recreios”.

Adega Machado, one of the most famous “fado club” of Lisbon, 91 “Rua do Norte”

• Bugix, excellent club, Latin rhythms, “Rua D. Fuas Roupinho” at “Parque das Naçoes”.


• Cinqo Lounge, one of the best bars of Lisbon, 17A “Ruben A. Leitao”.


• Captain Kirk, Funky 1970s-style nightclub, 21 “Rua do Norte”.


• Chapito, this restaurant has some of the most views of Lisbon, 7 “Rua Costa do Costelo”.


• Docks Club, one of the best bars in “Docas”, 226 “Rua da Cintura de Lisboa”


Gartejo, nice nightclub, 38 “Rua Joao Oliveira Miguens”.


• Kapital, one of the most expensive and exclusive clubs in the city, 68 “24 de Julio” avenue.

 

• Lux, nice place to dance, “Infante D. Henrique” avenue, “Cais da Pedra a Sta. Apolonia”.


• Memorial, a bar very popular amongst gay community, 42A “Rua Gustavo de Matos Sequeira”.
