Weather in Sao Paulo


Because of its geographical location, Sao Paulo has a subtropical climate which is less nice that the climate in Rio de Janeiro or Salvador da Bahia, but the Sao Paulo’s climate is quite pleasant and mild almost every time. Temperatures here are usually lower than most Brazilian cities mainly in winter, but they are still higher by world standards.
The average temperatures in Sao Paulo usually fluctuates between 19ºC (67ºF) and 27ºC (81ºF); being the annual average temperature 23ºC (74ºF). Nevertheless, during last years the temperatures in the city have gone increase, probably because of global warming, therefore now temperatures currently reach 30ºC (86ºF) during summer.
Most time Sao Paulo has a climate dry with few rainfalls. In the southern hemisphere winter begins in June and lasts until August, during winter temperatures are between 14ºC (56ºF) and 24ºC (75ºF), it is cool but never cold.
The highest temperatures are reached during summer, between December and March, when they range from 20ºC (68) to 30ºC (86). During this time is also the period with more rainfalls in Sao Paulo. In this city usually there are several days with precipitation per year, most of them occur between December and March. The annual rainfall rate in the city is 1317 mm (51.8 inches) approximately.
The rates of humidity in Sao Paulo are also quite higher; average morning relative humidity is 89% and average afternoon relative humidity is 64%. The average wind speed is around 8 Mph (12.8 Km/h) and wind blows from north to south. Usually there are 30 days with fog per year. Sao Paulo has a nice climate and worth visiting at any time of year.
