Sao Paulo Nightlife

Sao Paulo’s nightlife is amongst the best in the world. This city offers a great variety of places where to spend a nice night. In Sao Paulo, it can find many excellent discos, nice bars, many music concerts, theater, dance, cine and much more. Most paulistas won’t even set foot in a disco or club till after midnight. The entertainment centers are distributed throughout whole city. Nevertheless, Vila Olimpia is probably the most famous and popular meeting point at night in Sao Paulo, mainly amongst people between 18 and 30 years old; this neighborhood is full with clubs and bars, mainly at “Prof Atilo Innocenti” street. People between 25 and 45 prefer clubs and bars located at Vila Madalena.

Nightlife in Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo is considered the cultural capital of the country; therefore it usually attracts the main Brazilian music stars and greatest shows. This city gets most stars, which play here more often than any  other Brazilian city. Besides, many international music stars offer also amazing concerts in the main Sao Paulo’s stadiums. In addition to, the city have a great variety of theater, opera, ballet and classical music. It highlights the classical music, which is excellent and is presented in the famous and ancient Municipal Theatre, which is the main scenery of the cultural spectacles in Sao Paulo. Most events in the city appear every Friday in the “Folha de Sao Paulo”, one of the most important newspapers of the city.  

The Sao Paulo’s nights are the most sophisticated in Brazil; since paulistas are less casual than cariocas, therefore, many clubs and other entertainment places have dress codes; in these places jeans and running shoes likely won’t make it past the door. Most clubs and bars in the city charge a drink minimum, instead of or in addition to a cover charge.

Some nice clubs in Sao Paulo are:

• Azucar

It is a modern club and one of the latest hit in Sao Paulo. Salsa, merengue, and other Latin rhythms get the crowd going. The cocktails are strong and the menu is very elegant. The cover charge is steep, but it covers your first few drinks. It is situated at 423 “Mario Feraz” street.

• Bar Brahma

It is the main meeting point to intellectuals, musicians, politicians and businessmen. The bar has a nice decoration with wooden and bronze furniture and beautiful chandeliers. It is located at 677 “Sao Joao” avenue in the Downtown and opens every day from 11:00 to 2:00 am.

• Drosophyla

It is a former house turned bar. Drosophyla is a great bar decorated with Brazilian baroque style. The bar has also a beautiful garden. The clients of this place are very varied; it can find video makers, journalists, artists, etc. Food, beer and cocktails are excellent. It is located at 80 “Pedro taques” street in the “Bairro Consolaçao”.

• Heaven Straight club

It is a popular and expensive club, where admission costs around $40 and a beer costs $7. Here, it can see some of the most beautiful top models of Brazil and many famous Brazilians. DJs play a great variety of music like Hip Hop, R&B, etc.

• Jacaré Grill

It is a bar&restaurant where food is very good. It is a nice place to meet people and enjoy a drink. This place has two patios on opposite street corners. It opens from Tuesday to Friday  from noon to midnight and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 20:00.

• Pirajá

A great place to meet new people, this place is always packed. There are many tables on the sidewalk, lots of people out for a beer and a chat with friends, while eternally surly waiters serve up a never-ending stream of chopp. Nibbles include an outstanding cold-cut buffet with a huge variety of cheeses, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and marinated mushrooms. Action starts at happy hour after 18:00. Pirajá is located at 64 “Nova Faria Lima” avenue.

• Skye

This nice club is located on the top floor of the “Unique” Hotel. DJs here, play background music mainly and parties extend all the way out onto the pool deck. The club has also an incredible view of the city, including the famous “Paulista” avenue and its impressive skyscrapers. This club owns also an excellent restaurant. Skye is located at 4700 “Brigadeiro Luis Antonio” avenue near “Jardim Paulista”.
