Florence Nightlife


With a high student population, Florence has a relatively lively nightlife. The scene is constantly evolving with clubs and venues come-in and out of fashion, in addition some venues range from trendy bars, to clubs and underground music venues.
A night in town for Florentines or visitors who arrives to this beautiful city can vary between a night spent passing from one bar to another while you enjoy various snacks offered by the various establishments to and intense evening in the raucous night clubs dancing until the latest club sounds.
Furthermore Florence’s nightlife is fuelled by the city’s well heeled, foreign students who come to study Italian and History of Art. The minimum drinking age is 18, but the young scene can you appreciate are students fresh out of school getting their first taste of freedom and enjoying the proliferation of inexpensive wine and flexible licensing hours- some pubs stay open until 1:00 or even 3:00. The most bohemian area is Oltrarno. Elsewhere, nightlife is concentrated around Piazza della Signoria, home of more sedate venues.

Nightlife in Florence
Some clubs in Florence are open from 8pm until 4am. But all of them offer all kinds of entertainment to visitors who are tired of wondering the city in search of nightlife. With all of kinds of music like techno music and live music are featured on Sundays. Alternative bands passing through Italy and hosts of the many famous DJ’s and offers an eclectic mix of progressive, house, big beat and drum’s bass.
About live music venues, the scene in Florence has enjoyed resurgence in recent years, with an ever growing number of local artist have moved on from the local music scene to greater things. Florence also has one of the few venues in Florence where you can still hear live Jazz in its various forms ranging from traditional bands to more experimental forms of Jazz. The major rock venue is also hosts by Florence, with its famous catwalk that often plays host to fashion shows, so if there is a concert taking place during your stay in Florence you should go.
