The Bavaria's capital is only rivaled by Berlin as the most popular destination in Germany. Whilst Munich is compact it is a sophisticated city and it can take a lot of time to explore; it has many historical sites, a stunning array of museums, architectural treasures, boulevards, large squares, well kept parks, churches, galleries, trendy shops, large companies as well as the headquarters of companies such as BMW and Siemes and a superb modern transport system.

Deutsches Museum
The Deutsches Museum is the largest science and technology museum in Europe and one of the largest in the world. It is spread out along 16km of corridors on eight floors so it is possible to get lost among the endless interesting exhibitions containing invaluable original machines and equipment, models and reconstructions, from classical mechanics to telecommunications and electronics, from model coal and salt mine to space travel technology, interactive displays like glass blowing and paper making and marvelous sections on musical instruments.

Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady)
The "Church of Our Lady" or Frauenkirche is the most recognizable Munich’s landmark; it belonged to the archbishop of Munich-Freising. This cathedral of the 15th century is most famous for its distinctive domed towers which were built in 1525; they provide architectural interest as they are considered to be the precursors of the Renaissance style. The cathedral was designed by Gothic architect Jorg Von Halsbach in 1468. The interior is mainly Gothic and provides quite a contrast to the white interior; the altars were redesigned in the 18th century under the influence of the baroque.

BMW museum
Definitely the main highlight in Munich for the BMW enthusiasts; the BWM museum offers highlights from its splendid car and motorcycle collection; the aim of the museum has been to fascinate its visitors since its opening in 1973. The museum displays the technical development of the cars and motorcycles, together with the 90 years BMW’s history; the visitors can take tours of the firm’s architectural showpiece. There are also films and videos on display and an amazing cinemascope show on automobile history.

The Olympiapark
The Olympiapark is a beautifully landscaped park which was constructed originally for the 1972 Summer Olympics. It is located in the modern skyline near BMW and the area known as the "Oberwiesenfeld" or "upper meadow-field". The Olympiapark comprises four separate sub-areas: Olympic Area (includes Olympic Stadium, Olympic Hall), Olympic Village, Olympic Media City (the home of the Olympic Shooping) and the Olympic Park (includes the Olympic Mountain and Olympic Lake). Other significant structures of this park are the Olympic Ice Rink, Open-Air Theatron, Sea Stage and Carillon. It is administered by Olympiapark München GmbH, a company fully owned by the state capital of Munich. Nowadays it serves as a venue for cultural, social and religious events.
