Many of events and attractions held in this amazing city are considered the biggest events of their kind, bringing a diverse bunch of people from all over the world who enjoy the same things. Whether it is music, films, arts or something else, you are bound to find a Miami event that you will not want to miss.


Miami Coconut Grove Arts Festival

Coconut Grove Arts Festival



Coconut Grove Arts Festival is an annual event in February, and it is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse of USA. Around 330 finest contemporary artists show everything about painting, drawing, watercolour, printmaking, sculpture, photography, clay work, metal work, woodwork, digital art, glass, jewellery among others. This range of styles and the mixture of both world and local artist lead it to continued variety. Furthermore concerts of top jazz artists, a selection of ethnic and international food and hands-on art workshops for kids complete the programme. Therefore around 150,000 visitors head the Coconut Grove every year.


Calle Ocho Festival



Miami’s Calle Ocho Street Festival, an annual Cuban carnival in March, is one of the world’s largest street parties and events that you cannot miss. It is spread over 23 blocks in Miami’s Little Havana area and completely fills the main street with Latin music, dancing, entertainers and international food, there is something for everyone. Around thirty stages at intersecting avenues offers Musical styles which include salsa, meringue, reggaeton and more. Furthermore, four blocks from 4th avenue to 8th avenue are dedicated to children with stilt walkers, face painters, fun food, magicians and rides.


Miami Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival



Dragon Boat racing originated in the Fair East, but once year in May, Miami is host of its own festival. Is not necessary a prior experience to be a successful paddler, just people with competitive spirit and the ability to work in team, will pay dividends. The races are a colourful and spectacular affair and entertainment are provided to keep interest levels up when your favourite team is not racing.


Miami Goombay Festival



This festival, the most flamboyant events, has been dubbed as the largest black heritage festival in the US and celebrates Coconut Grove’s original Bahamian roots. For two days, the Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival turns Coconut Grove’s Grand Avenue into Miami’s answer to Nassau’s Bay Street. The feature of Miami Goombay Festival are the Junkanoo groups that dance in the streets in colourful paper creations moving to the sounds of whistles, cow bells, washboards and combs, while the Royal Bahamian Police Marching Band in their starched white uniforms perform precise drills. Furthermore, people can hear words of the rappers competing whit the steel bands music. The Goombay Festival is a reminder of the Bahamian immigrants who first settled in Coconut Grove in the 1890s — making it Miami’s first (and oldest) black community.


Miami Carnival



Miami Carnival is one of the largest street festivals in the US. Held on Columbus Day weekend, the Miami Carnival is a day-long celebration that features live music and a West Indian-style parade. Performers and other Miami Carnival participants compete for cash prizes and trophies in a variety of categories, such as the King and Queen of Carnival or the Band of the Year. Miami Carnival also brings plenty of Caribbean food and drink as well as an arts and crafts sale to downtown Miami. The Miami Carnival is the last stop on the annual Caribbean Carnival circuit, which begins in Trinidad & Tobago.


Miami Book Fair International

Miami Book Fair International brings together hundreds of published authors and booksellers along with thousands of book lovers. The chief attraction is the Congress of Authors, which features presentations by more than 300 writers, and the fair offers more than one million books for sale. Miami Book Fair International is a dream comes true for bibliophiles.


Art Deco Weekend



The Art Deco Weekend held in January, is one of the most anticipated events in Miami. They are devoted to celebrating and showing off the popular art style that has defined this city for years now. There is a walking tour of the art deco district and another feature is lecture which will give visitors more information about this particular style.


Miami Festival



For six weeks every fall, Miami Festival presents world-class musicians, Grammy winners, faculty members, students and other entertainers performing a variety of musical styles. Concerts and recitals range from the classics of Chopin, Beethoven, Bach and Mozart to the popular music of an American favourite, George Gershwin. The audiences may enjoy chamber music, Broadway show tunes, jazz, tango and Latin sounds.


Miami International Film Festival



The annual Miami International Film Festival brings the best of world and it has hosted films representing more than 50 countries. Movie screenings may include prize winnings films, Academy Award nominees and winners, and even world premieres. In addition, the festival offers a series of panels, discussions and seminars on the creative, technical and business side of film.


JVC Jazz Festival Miami Beach



For jazz-lovers, there’s no better time of year to visit Miami than springtime, which marks the return of the annual JVC Jazz Festival to Miami Beach. Every May, the JVC Miami Jazz Festival treats Miami jazz enthusiasts to the cool sounds of live jazz performances.


Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival



The Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival present some of the top food and wine experts in the world, including Food Network TV personalities. Among the highlights of the four-day food and wine festival are wine tasters, gourmet dinners, seminars, cooking demonstrations, tributes and the Food Network Awards show.
