Gozo Entertainment and Nightlife
As a typical Mediterranean lifestyle, people in Gozo like to enjoy and celebrate as much as possible. Gozo is usually lively, even some periods can be lean; there are always clubs and bars to visit and enjoy. Along all the year there are a number of cultural events and concerts such as the Summer Malta Arts Festival, Local Village Feasts, Carnival in February, Valleta Baroque Festival, the Opera Festival, Choir Festival, the lively summer village parish festas and International Jazz Festival; all of them attracting massive crowds impressing both locals and visitors.
Gozo is limited in discos and clubs if one compares it to the party atmosphere of Malta, but there is a selection of nightclubs in Victoria and near Xlendi which are always vibrant. Victorian’s central square has a concentration of bars where it is possible to try a pitcher of ice-cold Maltese lager or a glass of Gozitan wine. In the Pjazza Vittoria, located in Xaghra, there are great wine-bars and quiet waterfront bars in Marsalforn and Xlendi.
Gozo entertainment and nightlife
Classical music is very popular, and organ recitals take place regularly in Baroque churches and regular orchestral; soloist concerts and operas take place in some stunning historic venues. Band music is one of the most popular traditions, every town and village has at least one band club. The highlight of the year for these bands is the lively parish festa when they march through the streets of the village creating a musical show for people; it is a wonderful event with lots of fireworks, food and fun.
La Grotta is one of the only dance clubs opened in summer and on of the finest outdoors clubs in Europe. Located in Xlendi Valley it is a beautiful outdoor club which provides a breathtaking and picturesque environment for the quality visuals, lights, lasers and sound. But, since it is one of the only clubs open in summer, it gets crowded and parking can be stressful.
