Shanghai was known as the Paris of the East because it was the most notorious city Asia in that time. Nowadays this international metropolis is the hotspot and the commercial center of China; it is a sophisticated and innovative city with architectural temples of art, museums, parks, shopping venues, lots of skyscrapers, a constellation of dining, drinking and dancing destinations. Although the city is fairly commercial these days, its residents have made a great effort in creating green zones and they have succeeded.

Shanghai welcomes people from all over the world to enjoy its special atmosphere. This impressive city require about 3 days to do any real sightseeing; it has much to see and do thanks to its rich heritage of ancient Chinese culture. The Shanghai’s must sees includes the Bund, Yu Yuan Garden, the Shanghai Museum, Oriental Pearl Tower, RenMin Square, the Jade Buddha Temple, the Huangpu River Cruise and the Shanghai Art and Handicrafts Research Institute.

This is an elegant museum opened in 1996 and it is frequently cited as the best museum in China. The museum has eleven state-of-the-art galleries and three special exhibition halls arranged on four floors. The building itself is an architectural showpiece and its exhibits include 120,000 precious historic artifacts among bronzes, ceramic, paintings, sculpture, jade and Ming and Qing dynasty furniture. The museum features also a library with 20,000 books, a conservation laboratory, a lecture room and an audio tour.

The Oriental Pearl TV Tower
Located in Pudong Park, beside the Huangpu River and standing 468 meters high, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the highest tower in Asia and the third in the world. It was built in 1994 and now it is the modern symbol of Shanghai and new China. The tower has three tapering levels of pink spheres; the ground floor includes a souvenir shopping area, a café and a deluxe conference rooms that have hosted leaders and VIPs from around the world. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower offers stunning panoramic views of the city and it is a great attraction to tourists. It is undoubtedly one of the first stops for Chinese visitors.

The Bund (Wai Tan)
The Bund is located on the east bank of the Huanpu River lined with beautiful neo-classical buildings and a waterfront promenade. This is the most famous district; it forms the eastern boundary of old downtown Shanghai. There are bracing air and fine sunshine as well as many activities along the river. At night bright lights add to the happy atmosphere as people stroll along the wide riverside promenade.

Yu Yuan Garden (Garden of Peace and Comfort)
The Yu Yuan Garden is the largest ancient gardens of Shanghai; it is the most complete classical garden in urban Shanghai. The Garden was built between 1559 and 1577 by local official Pan Yunduan as the private estate for his father. It occupy five acres (2 hectares) and consists of six sections separated by boundary walls: Grand Rockery, Ten Thousand-Flower Pavilion, Hall of Heralding Spring, Hall of Jade Magnificence, Inner Garden and Lotus Pool; been the Grand Rockery the most renowned sight.
